It looks like even the women anointed get to have a beard when they are in heaven. Neatly trimmed and curled no doubt
True. But their robes have to be below the knees with pantyhose on underneath.

has anyone had a chance to watch this train wreck?
i checked it out this weekend, because apparently i’m the only one who hasn’t watched it, and i wanted to see what all the hype was about.
i can honestly say my iq dropped about 20 points.

of all the things people decided they needed to stockpile for a potential quarantine.
all of the stores around my area ran completely out of toilet paper this last weekend.
people were piling it into their carts and vehicles as if they were going to be holed up for a year.
Thanks, stan. Had to take a break from posting, for my own mental health. Still check in from time to time to see what's going on. Also been a little busy, with buying a house last year.

Of all the things people decided they needed to stockpile for a potential quarantine. All of the stores around my area ran completely out of toilet paper this last weekend. People were piling it into their carts and vehicles as if they were going to be holed up for a year. Stores started putting a limit on what people could buy, and some even had security guarding it. My wife and I had to drive all over just to find a pack for our immediate, basic needs. Finally ended up finding a 4 pack at a convenience store for an inflated price. Seriously, WTF is wrong with people?
so i've been watching the show and really enjoying it.
great to see a trek tv series finally get a reasonable budget.
beautiful costumes, sets, cinematography, action pieces, etc.. really my only complaints are how cg all the ships look and there's a fair bit of stiff dialog from time to time.. what do you guys think of the show?.
I've been meaning to check it out, only because Sasha from Walking Dead is in it.
I've never been a big Trekkie, though I did love TNG. I watched it religiously back in the 90's.
about a type of cult - not religious.
just a movie.
however, about had several earmarks of a cult.
I thought it was ok, nothing special. Not particularly original, either. The premise was essentially a rip-off of "Stepford Wives".
do you think the gb are watching the live report??
will they learn from all this?
are they scared shitless as the reality of social media delivers one bitch-slap of truth after another?
If they're following the case at all, they will simply cite it as an example of how sexually depraved the world is. And they'll do so without even a hint of irony.
i remember some men getting appointed and wondering what the hell were they thinking???.
likewise when i came to someone being appointed a presiding overeer or whatever they are called now!
.
I can think of one, in particular.
He was a guy I grew up with. Him and his brother were constantly in trouble as teenagers, even doing time in juvy. Even when he got older he never totally outgrew his rebellious streak. He was irregular, and attended meetings sporadically. I know he straightened up his act, and eventually started pioneering. Still, it came as a bit of a shock when I heard he got appointed as an elder. I also heard he stepped down a few years back, due to a personality conflict with the presiding overseer.
growing up as a jw, i was told that kiss stood for knights in satan's system (or service).. i just did a google search and learned it's not true.
it's actually not an acronym for anything.. to be honest, apparently it's not just the jws who believe it means something related to satan.. http://www.snopes.com/music/hidden/kiss.asp.
one day paul [stanley] and peter [criss] and i were driving around, brainstorming for new names.
I remember when this went around back in the 80's. I was never allowed to have a KISS record because of it.
Never mind that it was an unsubstantiated urban legend, and that they couldn't name one song that made a single mention of Satan. Once it was repeated from the platform, like everything else it became true to them.
i realize that prayer is a really personal thing, but representing a group in prayer has become so full of cliche's that i just want to vomit sometimes.
co week almost every prayer has the phrase "special week of activity" in it.. then there's "please look after the sick and afflicted.".
not so much anymore, "please bless this food and the hands that prepared it.".
We had a brother in my old congregation who would implement the word "father" in his prayer as often as he could. At least once per sentence. It was really strange and annoying.
I also hated those 5 minute long closing prayers at the end of the conventions. Those after the closing speaker already went over by a good 15 minutes.
